Maintenance Engineer
Northallerton
£44,041.55 per annum
Monday to Friday '' 8am to 4.30pm (On Call '' 1 in every 3 '' including weekends) OT available.
The Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the site by performing both reactive and planned maintenance tasks. This position is essential for maximizing efficiency, service, and feed consistency while upholding health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities of this Maintenance Engineer role:
- Execute planned preventative maintenance according to the agreed schedule.
- Perform reactive maintenance as needed.
- Order and maintain a stock of mill spares, sourcing parts cost-effectively.
- Prioritize food safety in all maintenance tasks.
- Quickly resolve plant breakdowns, faults, leaks, etc.
- Complete the preventative maintenance schedule on time and within budget in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Site Management.
- Ensure all tasks are completed safely and all equipment is maintained in a safe condition.
- Minimize plant downtime due to mechanical and electrical failures.
- Regularly monitor plant condition to prevent unnecessary equipment failures.
- Support internal hygiene audits and contribute to improving audit scores.
- Ensure the site is electrically and mechanically safe.
- Identify and implement energy cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workshop and work areas.
- Control contractors and manage Permits to Work.
Knowledge and Experience needed for this Maintenance Engineer role:
- Multi-skilled engineer; HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (Desired).
- Relevant engineering experience (Essential).
- Experience with planned maintenance systems, preferably within the food industry (Desired).
- Good knowledge of H&S legislation and application (IOSH qualification desirable).
- Exposure to high-volume manufacturing; CI or lean methodologies (Desired).
- Resilient personal development focus to continuously improve (Desired).
