Maintenance Engineer

Blackburn, Lancashire
£48,000 per annum + Overtime (Time & a Half)
4 on 4 off Shift Pattern

* Days: 6:00am – 6:00pm (2:00pm finish on Saturdays)

* Nights: 6:00pm – 6:00am

* No Saturday night shifts

Due to continued investment and expansion, I am looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team at their modern manufacturing facility in Blackburn.

The Role - Maintenance Engineer

Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you'll play a key role in maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns and delivering planned preventative maintenance across a busy FMCG manufacturing site.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem solving, working on automated production equipment and contributing to continuous improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery.

* Respond quickly and effectively to electrical and mechanical breakdowns.

* Diagnose faults using root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.

* Fault find on PLC-controlled machinery.

* Maintain electrical control systems, motors, drives, sensors and automation equipment.

* Support continuous improvement projects to maximise plant efficiency.

* Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately recorded using the CMMS system.

* Work closely with Production, Engineering and Management teams to minimise downtime.

* Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.

* Mentor and support fellow engineers where required.

* Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, HACCP, GMP and COSHH standards.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

* Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.

* BTEC, ONC, HNC or HND in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar).

* Proven experience within an FMCG, food manufacturing or high-speed production environment.

* Strong electrical fault-finding skills with good mechanical knowledge.

* Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery.

* Knowledge of process control systems.

* Experience using CMMS maintenance systems.

* Understanding of preventative maintenance strategies.

* Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and COSHH.

* A proactive attitude with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

* Passion for continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
