We have a great new opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to work on a double-day-based shift pattern Monday to Friday. We are looking for an experienced engineer to join the team at a busy port operation in Ipswich.
Your new role
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will carry out the day-to-day electrical maintenance and repair of port plant and equipment. The role is responsible for completing allocated tasks safely, efficiently and to the required standard, while minimising costs and will provide the Engineering Supervisor with regular updates on assigned tasks and support the planning of maintenance activities. This will help the department operate effectively while ensuring port operations are maintained safely and cost-effectively in accordance with company policies and procedures.You will carry out planned maintenance on plant and equipment. Ensuring that all work keeps the integrity of the compliance of that machine effectively and efficiently to deliver and meet the requirements of all the departments.

To carry out the job role in accordance with the company Safety Organisation and Arrangements policy.
Carry out maintenance works in a diligent and timely manner in order to meet the requirements for operations, both individually and as part of a larger team (including third party contractors as required). All in accordance with the business Safety procedures, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work
To communicate as required during servicing operations and the repair of plant, equipment and vessels.
Look to contribute to a continual improvement culture, through the development of improved systems/procedures.What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for an experienced engineer with strong electrical ability:

Time-served tradesman and holder of an engineering qualification (City & Guilds/ONC/HNC or equivalent) and experience associated with Electrical engineering.
Electrical experience in an industrial engineering environment working with heavy plant, cranes or conveyor systems.
Excellent communication / interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to communicate to both internal and external customers and the ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of Health and Safety principles including Risk Assessment and Hazard Perception.
Sound IT skills demonstrating an understanding and use of a range of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
A sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
