Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Maintenance Engineer role based between both our sites at Newton Abbot and Exeter (transport between sites provided, applicants must hold a valid UK driving licence).

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facilities to minimise downtime and support safe, efficient operations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, and implementing corrective actions.

The role also involves collaborating with production and quality teams to support continuous improvement, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. The Maintenance Engineer will contribute to equipment upgrades and process improvements as Forgeway continues to develop advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications

* Strong background in Maintenance Engineering with hands-on experience in Plant Machinary Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair.

* Demonstrated ability to plan and perform Preventive Maintenance activities to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.

* Practical skills in Electrical Maintenance, including fault finding and repair of industrial electrical systems and controls.

* Relevant technical qualification in engineering (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or degree in mechanical, electrical, or maintenance engineering).

* Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally within chemicals, adhesives, or related sectors.

* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a commitment to safe working practices.

* Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, and maintenance documentation.

* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams.

* Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with production, engineering, and external service providers.

* Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts if required to support operational needs
