Overtime available

Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a night-shift position with some genuine flexibility around how you work?

This Maintenance Engineer opportunity is based at a busy food-manufacturing site specialising in onion packing. The business is open to either a Monday-to-Friday night shift or a four-on, four-off pattern, allowing the exact arrangement to be discussed with the right person.

You’ll be the sole engineering presence during your shift, so this position needs someone experienced, dependable and comfortable making decisions without another engineer standing beside them.

The role

As the Maintenance Engineer, you’ll take responsibility for keeping the production and packing equipment running safely and efficiently throughout the night.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Responding to electrical and mechanical breakdowns

* Completing planned preventative maintenance and servicing

* Fault-finding across production and packing machinery

* Reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability

* Working closely with production to prioritise engineering requirements

* Identifying recurring faults and supporting continuous improvement

* Completing engineering records and maintenance documentation

* Maintaining high standards of health, safety and food hygiene

What they’re looking for

The Maintenance Engineer they need will have strong multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production, food, FMCG or packaging environment.

You’ll ideally have:

* Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience

* Experience maintaining automated production or packing machinery

* The ability to work independently and make confident decisions

* A proactive approach to breakdowns, PPMs and equipment reliability

* A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience

* The flexibility to work permanent nights

What’s on offer?

This Maintenance Engineer position comes with:

* £45,000–£60,000 depending on experience and agreed shift pattern

* Paid overtime

* 31 days’ holiday including bank holidays

* Salary sacrifice pension scheme

* Health Cash Plan

* Life assurance and income protection

* Training, development and mentoring opportunities

* Retail, supermarket and holiday discounts

* Electric car and Cycle to Work salary sacrifice schemes

* A Great Place to Work accredited employer

The site is based in Ramsey and is commutable from Peterborough, Huntingdon, March, Chatteris, Whittlesey, St Ives and the surrounding Cambridgeshire area.

This role may also suit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Engineering Technician.

If you’re a Maintenance Engineer who enjoys responsibility, works well independently and would consider a permanent night shift, apply today or contact Mike at Orange Monkey Recruitment for a confidential conversation
