The Role:

Set up and prepare the lathe for operation. selecting and mounting appropriate cutting tools, securing the workpiece in the chuck or between centres, and adjusting machine settings such as speed, feed rate, and depth of cut.
interpret engineering drawings or blueprints to understand the specifications and tolerances required for the finished part. This involves determining the dimensions, material type, and surface finish requirements.
Cut, shape, or prepare the material before loading it onto the lathe.
using the lathe to turn cylindrical, conical, or contoured shapes on the workpiece. This may include facing, turning, boring, threading, grooving, or knurling operations. The Person:
