The Client:

Our Clients site is based in London and is one of the three landing gear maintenance facilities within our client’s network. The 13,400 square meters shop is fully equipped with machinery for all aircraft undercarriage related work, including machining, bush manufacturing, NDT, electrical harness repair, hydraulic as well as plating shops and is capable to accommodate any common landing gear type. 99% in-house capability means little subcontracting activities.

Role Information – Machine Grinder:

Job Title: Machine Grinder

Location: London

Salary: £31,400+

Shift Pattern: Mon – Fri / Tues – Sat (dependant on business needs)

Summary of duties – Machine Grinder:

To grind aircraft components to precision limits in accordance with company with procedures/ OHM/ CMM/ SOPM.

As an experienced Machine Grinder, your responsibilities will be:

* To operate all types of grinding machines to fine limits.

* To be able to work unsupervised/ minimal supervision.

* To be able to read and understand technical drawings.

* To be able to work with cylindrical and surface grinding machines

* An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the Company’s environmental

* You will be required to maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book

* You may be required to train personnel with a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience

* All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations and Company Procedures

In order to be successful in the role of Machine Grinder you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

* Extensive experience working internal and external grinding machines. Knowledge of both essential

* Aerospace background not essential but would be preferred

* Experience of working with cylindrical and surface grinding machines

* Knowledge of CNC grinding preferable

Personal Qualities:

* Able to use their own initiative

* Strong analytical skill set.

* Good communicator- ability to communicate with staff on business, and other issues that affect the business

* Good planning, organisation and administration skills, PC literate

* Able to maintain performance under pressure

* Ability to make decisions and problem solving skills

* Able to communicate with all levels of Management

* Willingness to learn new skills to help the Company achieve its targets

* Able to communicate with all levels of Management

* Must be a strong team player willing to improve and learn methods and processes with the attitude to pass on knowledge and help with the improvement of the working environment within the Plating department

Education and Qualifications:

* Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent

* Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English

Working Conditions:

* The position requires from time to time flexibility in working hours including working overtime at weekends.

* The position involves the training and use of overhead cranes.

* The job requires the applicant to understand manual handling

* The job requires the use of hand tools and power tools.

* The position involves the use of complex machinery

* Mandatory Training will be required
