M&E PROJECT MANAGERLocation: London / UK-wide Projects 

Reporting to: Contracts Director

Employment Type: Permanent

THE OPPORTUNITYOur client is looking for an experienced M&E Project Manager to join its Contracts team, reporting directly to the Contracts Director.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Project Manager with experience across HVAC&R, mechanical building services and/or M&E projects.

The successful candidate will manage multiple projects across the UK, taking responsibility from initial enquiry, tender and design through to project delivery, completion and final handover.

SALARY & BENEFITS
M&E Project Manager: £50,000 – £60,000 + Travel Card

Intermediate / Senior M&E Project Manager: £60,000 – £80,000 + Travel Card

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProject Management
Manage multiple M&E projects from initial enquiry through to completion and final handover.

Take full responsibility for project delivery, ensuring programmes, budgets, quality and contractual requirements are achieved.

Define project scope, activities, responsibilities and programmes clearly.

Develop and monitor project programmes to ensure projects are delivered on time.

Attend and lead pre-start, progress and project meetings.

Provide regular updates on project progress, commercial performance and key issues.

Identify project risks and implement practical solutions.

Technical & Design
Design HVAC&R systems independently and in collaboration with the in-house design team.

Provide technical expertise across relevant HVAC and mechanical disciplines.

Review project requirements, specifications and technical documentation.

Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to select and specify appropriate equipment and materials.

Resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Support commissioning, completion and final handover activities.

Commercial Management
Take responsibility for the contractual and commercial aspects of assigned projects.

Prepare and submit detailed quotations for HVAC&R systems.

Respond to tenders, enquiries and requests for information accurately and within required timescales.

Analyse tender submissions and provide recommendations prior to contract award.

Monitor and control project costs to ensure commercial targets are achieved.

Maintain commercial awareness throughout the project lifecycle.

Client & Team Management
Act as a key client-facing representative for the company.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, manufacturers and suppliers.

Provide leadership and support to installation teams.

Undertake regular site visits where required.

Maintain effective communication with site personnel, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

Ensure projects are delivered professionally and to the required standards.

Quality, Health & Safety
Maintain accurate project records and documentation in accordance with the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Ensure projects comply with relevant health & safety and environmental legislation.

Ensure all works are delivered to the required quality standards.

Promote a professional, process-driven approach to project delivery.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLSThe successful candidate will ideally have:

Proven experience in M&E / HVAC&R Project Management.

Experience in HVAC&R system design and delivery.

Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services.

Commercial awareness and a good understanding of project financials.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions.

Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Excellent attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, suppliers and contractors.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

A positive, proactive and professional attitude.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.

Good knowledge of health & safety and environmental requirements.

A process-driven approach to project management.

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and mobile technology.

DESIRABLE MECHANICAL EXPERIENCECandidates should have experience in the design and/or project management of one or more of the following:

HVAC / Ventilation

Air Conditioning

Refrigeration

Heating & Plumbing

Electrical / Associated Building Services

Experience across multiple disciplines would be advantageous.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTSCandidates should ideally possess:

Option 1:HNC or HND in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

OR

Option 2:A minimum of 10 years' relevant industry experience within HVAC&R, mechanical building services or a closely related sector.

Relevant industry experience, technical capability and project management experience will be considered alongside formal qualifications.
