Contract Scotland are offering a key role within a dynamic Energy and Heat Systems team, dedicated to the advancement of sustainable heat decarbonisation in Scotland. As a Partner, immerse yourself in a role that blends technical prowess with strategic insight, playing a pivotal part in a groundbreaking initiative that is reshaping the way homes and buildings are heated.

The position is offered on an 18-month fixed-term contract, offers fully flexible/hybrid working and a notably generous pension scheme. 

The selected individual will be integral to the collaboration with the Scottish Government's Heat Network Support Unit (HNSU), a partnership focused on fostering the growth of heat networks. The role demands a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and enhancing public sector capabilities through expert guidance, proficiency, and financial backing.

Candidates should possess a degree in a technical discipline or an equivalent professional qualification. Those without formal qualifications must demonstrate extensive specialist experience. A minimum of three years in a development engineering role within the sector or related supply chain is essential, showcasing a proven track record of cultivating robust relationships with stakeholders.

Key attributes sought include:

- A robust market and technical knowledge of low carbon heat and district heating systems
- Familiarity with the Scottish Government's Energy Strategy and Heat in Buildings policy
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at influencing decision-makers and delivering presentations
- A collaborative spirit, ready to mentor emerging talent
- Proven contract management skills, including oversight of external service providers
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Understanding of public sector tendering and procurement

Responsibilities encompass providing expert technical advice, conducting high-level technical design studies, and nurturing key stakeholder partnerships. The role also involves managing framework contracts, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery of technical studies, and upholding the quality of outputs in line with organisational standards.

Additionally, the role requires engagement with clients to facilitate project progression, staying abreast of relevant policies, and contributing to government interactions. Keeping informed about low carbon heating innovations and their applications is also key. The role includes evaluating funding applications for the HNSU and other related programmes.
