Logistics Manager

Cardiff

£55k - £65k plus package

Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting for a logistics manager to work for a large contractor on the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.

Role Purpose:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the coordination of collections of waste, transportation to its in due skips, ensuring the proper segregation of the waste and manage their authorized disposal out of the project. The role holder is required to develop and maintain robust relationships with suppliers, vendors, manufacturers and retailers and manage the entire order cycle to ensure project operations run smoothly to ensure that materials and equipment are managed efficiently.

Role Responsibilities:

* Negotiate, agree and manage contracts with suppliers, vendors, manufacturers and retailers.

* Plan and organise shipments, and transportation out of the site.

* Organize the labours appointed to support him in its duties.

* Plan and resolve issues regarding the waste management.

* Operate IT systems to manage timings, costs and stock levels.

* Coordinate the works with the Logistic Manager for deliveries and liftings.

* Report to the works manager.

* Work with procurement and commercial teams on product selection as required. Plan and analyse budgets and expenditures.

* Plan and oversee futures stages. Oversee logistics and transport services.

* Plan and analyse budgets and expenditures.

* Comply with all legislation and regulations and company policies.

* Analyse data to assess performance, discover logistical problems and devise plans for improvements..

* Ensure health and safety, quality and environment standards are followed and adhered to.

* Liaise with client representatives in a professional manner with regards to quality, safety and environmental monitoring.

* Leading the collaboration intent and charter with the wider project team, in all aspects of the project.

* Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, and costs to optimise efficiency.

Essential Criteria:

* Batchelors / Masters Degree in Engineering/ Manufacturing, Logistics / Supply Chain or equivalent qualification.

* CSCS Card - Professionally Qualified Person (White) or Construction Manager (Black)

* 10 years’ experience in a similar role (Logistics Management within Construction/ Engineering industry).

In addition to the above:

* Proven record of successful distribution and logistics management.

* Proficient in standard logistics software.

* Attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

* Proficient with Logistics Management System Implementation and Auditing.

* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Software packages: Word, Excel, and Power Point.

* Ability to work independently and handle multiple items..

* Excellent ability to negotiate to achieve the best price from suppliers.

* Establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Logistics requirements within the organisation are adhered to.

Desirable Criteria:

* Extensive Construction knowledge.Membership of a related professional body e.g. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)10+ years’ experience in a similar role (Logistics Management within Construction/ Engineering industry).Knowledge of the Spanish and/or Portuguese Language.

* Knowledge of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
