Logistics ManagerSector: Bespoke Packaging ManufacturingLocation: Westbury, WiltshirePackage: Basic Salary £33,000 to £37,000 (dependant on experience), plus Bonus & flexible company benefits  Hours: 40 hours across Monday-Friday  The Company Macfarlane Design & Manufacture are seeking to appoint an experienced Logistics Manager with a proven track record of implementing change and driving efficiencies who shall assume responsibility for the warehouse and drivers team based in Westbury. Our specialist manufacturing division designs and manufactures bespoke protective packaging solutions. Our customers are UK wide and span several key verticals including Aerospace, Defense, Electronics, Industrial and Medical.  Logistics Manager Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Manager in Westbury. This is a highly focused role, providing a wonderful opportunity for the right person to make a real impact. We believe that our logistics strategy plays a fundamental role in the success of our business; we have state-of-the-art support systems and facilities, ensuring a first-class service is provided to our customers. This senior role will be pivotal in ensuring the continued success of the Westbury site, being responsible for delivering operational excellence, managing budgets, and ensuring KPIs are exceeded.  Logistics Manager Key Duties Reporting to the Operations Manager, you shall be managing a team of three Warehouse Operatives and three Drivers; Setting targets & objectives, completing Performance and Development Assessments, providing opportunities for development and coaching. Core duties will include… 
Supporting the development of the overall Logistics strategy
Responsible for the receipt, storage and dispatch of all materials purchased/requisitioned for stock and to customer requirements.
Cost effective scheduling of deliveries to customers via Company vehicles or outside carriers to achieve a 24/48-hour delivery service.
Monitoring all logistics costs, reviewing operations, and making cost-savings
Supporting the Operations Manager in following the PI process.  Ensuring adequate resources to count stock to agreed deadline. 
Work in partnership with the Sales office to ensure customer delivery dates/times are achieved.
Work in a constructive manner and promote co-operation between departments
Responsibility for all aspects of health and safety within the warehouse and loading bays.
Liaise with Central Logistics to ensure that three vehicles within the local fleet are serviced and maintained and legally compliant.
Where applicable, ensuring the legal compliance of the Company’s Operating license
Ensuring all warehouse processes and procedures are adhered to, and monitored and developed where appropriate
Responsibilities for all plant and equipment at within department
Support Operations Manager with yearend stock check.
In conjunction with sales manage old slow-moving stock, be aware of the profit implication of stock holding costs, including redundant stock and damaged stock. Ensuring effective stock rotation, FILO.
Attending quarterly group logistics forum.
Ensuring daily driver debriefs are carried out utilizing Masternaut.
Reporting all building defects to the Operations Manager.
Generally assist in the smooth running of the onsite Warehouse
Work within the Company’s ISO9001 and ISO14001 policies.

Do you have the correct profile? You must have a strong logistics background with minimum two-years’ experience of a similar managerial/supervisory role (covering both warehouse and drivers). You will have an effective leadership style with the ability to coach, mentor, train & develop staff. You will ideally have had responsibility for managing a logistics budget previously and using route-planning software (we use Masternaut). It’s also important that you have a strong grasp of health & safety (including manual handling) and are accustomed to completing regular vehicle checks and maintaining records. Whilst not essential, holding your own valid HGV and or forklift truck license would be advantageous, as would holding a CPC certificate. No prior experience of packaging products/manufacturing is required but again, it is always a bonus if someone has worked within our industry.  Our Benefits We provide a competitive basic starting salary and operate a range of rewarding bonus/incentive schemes.
