Logistics Coordinator – Import, Export & Customs
Location: Storrington, West Sussex
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Talented People Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join a specialist engineering business based in Storrington.
This is a varied international logistics role with a strong focus on import/export and customs compliance. You'll coordinate the movement of goods across the UK and internationally, while taking responsibility for ensuring shipments meet UK customs and international trade requirements.
We're looking for someone who already has hands-on experience with Inward Processing (IPR), AEO, Duty Deferment and Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA) and can confidently work with these processes from day one.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, coordinate and monitor UK and international shipments from collection through to final delivery.
* Arrange transport through approved carriers and freight providers.
* Prepare accurate shipping, import, export and customs documentation.
* Manage Inward Processing (IPR) requirements and ensure goods imported under the procedure are correctly identified and recorded.
* Ensure statutory Inward Processing requirements are met while maximising applicable duty relief on goods intended for re-export.
* Support the maintenance of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) compliance, including reviews and audits.
* Manage customs processes relating to Duty Deferment and Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA).
* Act as a key point of contact for HMRC and customs-related import and duty enquiries.
* Ensure compliance with UK customs legislation and international trade regulations.
* Ensure the correct use of commodity/HS codes, customs values and country of origin declarations.
* Maintain a strong understanding of Incoterms and ensure they are applied correctly.
* Monitor shipments and proactively resolve transport or customs issues.
* Maintain accurate shipping and customs records for audit, compliance and traceability.
* Create and maintain sales orders and ensure order information remains accurate.
* Despatch customer orders and create invoices as goods are shipped.
* Raise purchase orders for external transport and logistics services.
* Support temporary exports and the preparation of documentation for engineer toolkits.
* Support improvements to logistics systems, processes and procedures.
What We're Looking For
You'll have established experience within international logistics, shipping, import/export or customs, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering or technical environment.
This position requires more than general freight coordination. We're looking for someone with strong technical customs knowledge who can confidently work with:
* Inward Processing / IPR
* Authorised Economic Operator / AEO
* Duty Deferment
* Postponed VAT Accounting / PVA
* UK import and export procedures
* HMRC customs requirements
* Commodity / HS codes
* Country of origin declarations
* Incoterms
* International shipping and customs documentation
You'll be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and comfortable managing multiple international shipments at once. You'll also need to be confident dealing with HMRC, freight providers, customers and internal teams to resolve customs and shipping queries.
Experience using ERP/MRP systems is beneficial, while knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations, including IATA and ADR, would be advantageous.
