My client is a leading manufacturer and global supplier of high-quality products with offices in Halifax with over 40 years of technical expertise. I am delighted to support them in their recruitment for an Internal Sales and Purchasing Manager to lead and manage the team, coordinating the movement of goods and ensuring that shipments are delivered efficiently and securely.

Main Responsibilities

* Supervise and lead team, providing guidance and training as required.

* Oversee and coordinate daily activities, including order processing and shipping to ensure timely and accurate execution.

* Responsible for Sales Orders processing, ensuring accurate pricing and product details included.

* Oversee shipping process, providing troubleshooting and problem-solving support to the team as required.

* Resolve operational issues and customer complaints in a timely manner, demonstrating problem solving and decision-making skills.

* Utilise data and analytics to generate reports and KPI’s to provide insight to senior managers.

* Develop and maintain procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

* Identify areas for improvement to optimise efficiency and reduce costs.

* Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve the freight forwarding process.

General

* To maintain awareness and keep updated with any changes that would affect the company.

* To act as a professional and positive ambassador for the organisation.

* To ensure that the department always works effectively and fairly.

* To carry out such duties as may reasonably be required from time to time to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.

Person specification

* Previous experience in a similar role, within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

* Proven leadership abilities to motivate and develop a team.

* Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and carriers.

* Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with customs regulations.

* Strong knowledge of freight and international trade regulations and customs requirements.

* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

* Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Qualifications

* Previous experience in logistics and customer services is highly desirable.

* Knowledge of international shipping documentation and customs clearance procedures.

* Familiarity with shipping regulations and compliance requirements.

* Proficiency in computer systems and software used in logistics operations.

* Experience of using Sage
