Locum Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Ward
* £28 per hour
* 30 hours per week (choice of days)
* 3-month contract
* Gravesend, Kent, DA11
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Locum Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Inpatient Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Ward in Gravesend. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective rehabilitation plans that promote recovery, independence, and improved quality of life for our patients.
Assessment and Evaluation
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' functional abilities, cognitive skills, and occupational performance.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and patient goals.
* Utilize standardized assessment tools and clinical observations to inform therapy plans.
Therapeutic Interventions
* Implement a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions to enhance patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
* Facilitate activities of daily living (ADL) training, upper limb therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and environmental modifications.
* Use adaptive equipment and technology to support patients' functional independence.
Collaborative Care
* Work closely with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and holistic care.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and discharge planning sessions.
* Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies to support ongoing rehabilitation.
Documentation and Reporting
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
* Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards for documentation.
* Provide detailed reports and updates to the multidisciplinary team as required.
Professional Development
* Stay current with advancements in occupational therapy practices, particularly in the areas of stroke and neurorehabilitation.
* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) activities and reflective practice.
* Supervise and mentor junior staff and occupational therapy students as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant clinical setting.
* Experience in stroke and neurorehabilitation.
* Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
* Previous experience in an inpatient setting.
* Knowledge of current best practices and evidence-based approaches in stroke and neurorehabilitation.
* Training in specific therapeutic techniques (e.g., Bobath, Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy)
