Job Description:
As a Class 2 Driver for Gregory's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries out of the Southampton depot to a range of clients at locations across the UK. This work will mainly be multidrop, meaning you will be delivering to superstores and some smaller stores, dairys and Prisons. You will be required to load your vehicle and at delivery points unload. Making sure the order is correct and obtain proof of delivery.
You will also be required to collect empty baskets and wheels.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Safely operate Class 2 vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company guidelines
* Transport goods efficiently from site to site
* Adhere to assigned schedules, ensuring timely deliveries while demonstrating flexibility as needed
* Collaborate closely with the site Transport team to receive instructions
* Provide updates on delivery progress via phone supplied by Gregory Distribution
* Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to guarantee the roadworthiness
* Uphold our commitment to exceptional customer service through courteous interactions at all times
The requirements of this role include:
* Valid Class 2 (Category C) driving license with a clean driving record. (Held for a minimum of 2 years)
* CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification
* Proven experience as a Class 1 Driver, preferably within a distribution or logistics environment
* Flexibility to work long shifts of 12 - 14 hours and varied schedules, including weekends
* Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively
Shift times:
Monday to Sunday (Flexible)
5 out of 7 days
Day & Night shifts available
On average drivers will complete a 12 14-hour shift.
[Drivers are paid for a minimum of 8 hours regardless of the shift]
Pay rates:
Mon-Fri Days £15.00
Mon-Fri Nights £17.75
Weekend Days £17.75
Weekend Nights £20.50
Start date / induction process:
Onsite induction to understand safety protocols on site and driving assessment.
