Pay: £100-£125 per day, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN setting in Chesterfield, supporting children and young people with severe and complex additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about providing nurturing, consistent and highly individualised support to pupils who require a significant level of adult support throughout the school day.

The pupils may have severe learning difficulties, complex communication needs, physical disabilities, autism and behaviours of concern. The successful candidate will need to be confident working with pupils who require a high level of support and understand the importance of patience, routine and consistency.

The Role

As a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

Providing dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with severe SEN
Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and development
Providing a calm, nurturing and reassuring presence throughout the school day
Helping pupils regulate their emotions and manage behaviours of concern
Supporting pupils to develop independence and confidence
Assisting with personal care where required
Following individual support, behaviour and education plans
Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider specialist staff
Creating positive relationships with pupils and celebrating their progress

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
Previous experience working with children or young people with severe, profound or complex SEN
Experience within a specialist SEN school, care setting or similar environment
A naturally nurturing, patient and caring approach
The ability to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
The resilience required to work with pupils who may require very high levels of supportExperience supporting children with complex autism, SLD, PMLD, communication difficulties or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable.
