Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEND Support) - September 2026

Location: Wigan
Contract type: Full-time, ongoing temporary contract (5 days per week) from September 2026
Salary: £92.56 - £110.00 per day (dependent on experience)

About the role:

We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wigan from September. This full-time role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil and is expected to continue on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and making a genuine difference to a child's educational journey.

Key responsibilities:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil
Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning support
Adapt activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil
Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning
Promote positive behaviour using the school's behaviour policy
Build a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and parents where appropriate
Prepare learning resources and support classroom activities as required

Requirements:

Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
Recent experience supporting children in a primary school setting
Experience working with pupils with additional needs is desirable
Patient, reliable and proactive approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
