Lecturer in Maths (Variable Hours)

Salary: Unqualified: £21.13 per hour plus holiday pay Qualified: £25.34 per hour plus holiday pay

Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking passionate, adaptable and committed Bank Lecturers in Maths to support our Maths provision across our campuses on an as-needed basis.

As a Bank Lecturer, you will join a pool of teaching staff who can provide both short-term and longer-term teaching cover, support curriculum delivery and contribute to the continued development of Maths provision throughout the academic year.

Applicants can indicate their preferred campus location: Trowbridge, Lackham, Chippenham or Salisbury.

You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of learners and make a genuine difference to their confidence, achievement and progression.

What You'll Do

You’ll deliver engaging, inclusive Maths teaching across a range of programmes, helping learners build the mathematical skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Teach and assess GCSE and Functional Skills Maths

Plan engaging lessons for learners with diverse abilities and backgrounds

Prepare learners for exams and assessments

Track progress and provide constructive feedback

Develop learners’ confidence and mathematical skills

Use varied teaching, learning and assessment strategies

Maintain accurate learner records

Work collaboratively with curriculum and support teams

Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement and enrichment

Support learners to progress into further education, employment or higher-level study

What You'll Bring

Level 3 qualification or higher in Maths or a related subject, or significant relevant experience

Strong Maths subject knowledge, including GCSE and/or Functional Skills

Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills

A flexible, adaptable and learner-centred approach

Ability to create engaging lessons that meet diverse learning needs

Genuine commitment to developing learners’ confidence, mathematical skills and achievement

A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent is welcomed, as is experience in Further Education, secondary, adult, vocational or community education.

We also welcome applications from experienced Maths teachers, subject specialists and professionals with strong mathematical knowledge and a passion for education.
