Lecturer - Bricklaying

Permanent | Full Time | 37 Hours per Week

Salary: £35,000 - £41,00 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications

Are you an experienced bricklaying professional looking to step out of the site and into the classroom?

About the Role

As a Bricklaying Lecturer, you'll pass on your hands-on construction expertise to the next generation of bricklayers in a dynamic, well-equipped workshop environment. Working with an established education provider, you'll deliver practical training, coaching and underpinning knowledge that prepares learners for a successful career in the trade.

You'll run classroom-style sessions, one-to-one tutorials and student reviews, supporting learners to develop both technical skill and professional standards. You'll also play a key role in maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop, ensuring equipment, tools and materials are properly managed and that students work to strict health and safety requirements throughout.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering practical bricklaying training, coaching and underpinning knowledge to learners.

Running classroom-style workshops, one-to-one tutorials and student reviews.

Supporting lecturers by setting up and assisting with vocational learning activities.

Supervising student practical work to ensure strict health and safety compliance.

Maintaining a clean, safe and organised bricklaying workshop environment.

Keeping up to date with essential safety regulations, including COSHH, and acting as a First Aider.

Checking, maintaining and carrying out minor repairs on specialist tools and equipment.

Managing workshop stock levels and maintaining accurate material inventories.

Ensuring all equipment and building materials are safely cleaned and stored.

Assessing student competence against pre-determined industry criteria.

Supervising learners during exams, site visits and practical tests.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

Experience working in the bricklaying trade

Ability to assess student competence against industry criteria

Commitment to maintaining strict health and safety standards, including COSHH compliance

Willingness to act as a First Aider

Desirable (but not essential):

Previous experience delivering training or coaching, either formally or informally

If you don't yet hold a teaching qualification, that's not a barrier. Many successful lecturers come from industry, and you'll be supported with training, mentoring and ongoing development to help you thrive in the classroom.

What We Offer

Market Rate Allowance of £3,000 to £6,000 in addition to salary

Permanent contract

37 hours per week, worked flexibly

If you're ready to bring your trade expertise into the classroom and help shape the next generation of bricklayers, we'd love to hear from you.
