Job description
Local Education is recruiting a full-time Learning Support Assistant for a long-term placement at a secondary school in Maldon, Essex.
The school is looking for somebody who can commit to the role on a full-time basis, with the placement expected to continue on a long-term basis, potentially through the remainder of the academic year.
This would suit an experienced LSA, Teaching Assistant or somebody with relevant experience supporting young people who is looking for the stability of working within the same school each day, rather than moving between daily supply bookings.
The role
You will work alongside the school's existing teaching and support team, helping pupils access learning and remain engaged within the school environment.
Depending on pupil and departmental needs, the role may involve:
* Supporting pupils within lessons
* Working with individuals or small groups
* Helping pupils remain focused and engaged with learning
* Providing additional support to pupils who require it
* Working closely with teachers and the school's support team
* Encouraging confidence, independence and positive participation
* Supporting the school's expectations around behaviour and routines
We are particularly interested in candidates who are patient, consistent and able to build positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils.
We would like to hear from you if you have experience in:
* Learning Support / Teaching Assistant work
* SEND support
* Secondary schools
* Youth work or mentoring
* Behaviour or pastoral support
* Care or other roles supporting children and young people
Previous school experience would be beneficial, but we are also happy to consider candidates with strong transferable experience and the right approach.
The important bit
This isn't a couple of days of supply.
The school is looking for somebody who can provide consistency, so you must realistically be able to commit to Monday to Friday and normal school hours on an ongoing basis.
We would rather be upfront about that from the beginning and find somebody who genuinely wants a long-term position.
