In this role, you will provide essential 1:1 and targeted small-group support to children with a range of needs—including Autism Spectrum Condition, Speech, Language & Communication Needs, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt classroom materials, remove barriers to learning, and help every child feel confident and included.

This is a long-term position with an excellent opportunity to transition into a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group academic and pastoral interventions.

*

Support pupils with diverse SEN profiles to access the curriculum at their own pace.

*

Promote independence, self-esteem, and social communication skills.

*

Implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) alongside the SENCO and class teacher.

*

Maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment, using positive reinforcement and proactive de-escalation strategies when needed.

*

Build trust and strong rapport with pupils, colleagues, and parents.

What We Are Looking For

*

Proven SEN Experience: Demonstrable track record working with children or young people with SEN in a school, specialist provision, or care/support background.

*

Core Qualities: Patient, nurturing, calm under pressure, encouraging, and highly adaptable.

*

Proactive Mindset: A self-starter who anticipates classroom needs and instinctively knows when to step in or foster pupil independence.

*

Team Player: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and teachers.

*

Relevant Training (Desirable but not essential): Experience using visual timetables, PECS, Makaton, or Team-Teach / de-escalation training is a strong plus.

Why Apply Through Us?

*

Competitive Daily Rate: £100 – £120 per day (PAYE via Umbrella).

*

Guaranteed Continuity: Consistent, long-term placement with a clear pathway to permanent employment.

*

Local to You: Excellent transport links and accessible school locations across Chelmsford.

*

Dedicated Consultant Support: Continuous guidance from a specialist education recruiter throughout your placement.

Requirements

*

Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

*

Right to work in the UK.

*

Demonstrable experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals with SEN.
