About the Role
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a key child in Key Stage 1 with Autism, helping them access learning in a safe, structured, and positive environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement consistent strategies that support the pupil's academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development.
The successful candidate will be resilient, confident, and able to remain calm in challenging situations. You will know when to be firm in maintaining clear boundaries while also recognising and celebrating positive behaviours through praise and encouragement to help build the child's confidence and independence.
The pupil has a tendency to leave the classroom or run from adults when dysregulated, so this role requires someone who is proactive, physically active, and always vigilant. You must be comfortable responding quickly to ensure the child's safety and wellbeing, following the school's safeguarding procedures while supporting the pupil to regulate their emotions and return to learning.
