An alternative education centre in Liverpool is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. They are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable Learning Support Assistant to join their team and provide one-on-one support to a student with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

Role Overview:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 9 student who requires additional support to succeed academically and socially. Your role will involve building a trustworthy and supportive relationship, guiding the student through their educational journey, and helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

There are currently 7 members of staff supporting 27 students who also take part in construction and hair and beauty diplomas to ensure that the students have qualifications they need to be able to further their skills in college. You will support the pupil as their tutor takes the classes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one support to a Year 9 student with an EHCP.
Help the student develop effective learning strategies and organizational skills.
Foster a positive and trusting relationship to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the student's needs are met.
Monitor and record the student's progress, providing feedback to relevant parties.
Support the student in developing social skills and managing their behaviour.
Encourage the student's independence and confidence in their abilities.
Qualifications and Skills:

Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
Understanding of the challenges faced by students with special educational needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with students.
Reliability and commitment to a full-time position.
Staff support each other and work together in any way they can to make sure that the students needs are met, they have built an environment that feels like a family where the children can come and feel safe whilst they are away from home. It is important you are able to adapt and work well as part of the team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
