SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism & Developmental Language Delay

Location: Crofton Park, SE4
Start Date: September
Contract: Full-time | Long-term
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Crofton Park is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.

This rewarding role will involve providing tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs, primarily those with Autism (ASC) and Developmental Language Delay. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping children access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence within the classroom.

The school is looking for a proactive and compassionate individual who has previous experience supporting children with additional needs and is committed to making a positive difference to pupils' educational and personal development.

The Role Will Involve:

Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism and Developmental Language Delay

Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through personalised learning strategies

Encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence

Implementing strategies recommended by the SENCO and external professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists

Monitoring pupil progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff

Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism (ASC) and Developmental Language Delay

Be patient, nurturing, and resilient

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Be confident working both independently and as part of a wider team

Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
