Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

We're working with a welcoming secondary school in Halifax to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role where you'll split your time between supporting students in lessons and providing targeted one-to-one support, helping remove barriers to learning and encouraging positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role
Supporting students with SEMH needs across a range of subjects
Providing one-to-one and small group interventions
Working alongside teachers to keep students engaged and on task
Building positive relationships that promote confidence, resilience, and wellbeing
Supporting behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation
Helping create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
We're Looking For
Experience working with young people, ideally in a school, youth work, care, coaching, or support setting
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A genuine desire to make a difference to the lives of young people
Confidence working with students who may display challenging behaviour
