Location: St Albans (Hertfordshire)

Contract: Full/Part Time, Temp to Perm

Salary: £80 - £95 p/day

Supply Desk is proud to be collaborating with a nurturing, friendly and bubbly school in the heart of the St Albans community. We are currently hiring for a Special Education Needs Leaning Support Assistant on a full/part-time basis.

THE ROLE

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on students' lives? We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our dynamic team, focusing on providing exceptional support for students with learning difficulties. There are a variety of students who require additional support, some conditions include but are not limited to:

-          Non-Verbal / Speech Delay

-          Visual Impairment

-          Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

-          Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

The role includes but is not limited to:

-          Provide personalized support by adapting your approach to meet the specific needs of students facing behavioural challenges.

-          Utilize your expertise in behavioural intervention to turn challenges into opportunities for growth, implementing effective strategies and reinforcing positive behaviours.

-          Build positive and trusting relationships with students, acting as a mentor and friend in a safe and nurturing environment.

-          Emphasize communication by collaborating seamlessly with teachers, parents, and professionals to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student.

-          Lead the implementation of individualized education and behaviour plans, contributing to the success and progress of our students.

-          Foster a sense of belonging by promoting the inclusion of students in the broader classroom community, supporting their social interactions, and facilitating participation in group activities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

ü  Play an active and valued role in a young person's education under the teacher’s guidance

ü  Support the teacher in adjusting the curriculum to pupils’ individual needs

ü  Have a real say in the way in which a young person is educated

ü  Have access to information, advice and support during assessment and any related decision making about special educational provision.

ü  Work in partnership with other services, including the voluntary sector

ü  Ensure young person is consulted at all stages

ü  Recognise the potential stress of assessment and review arrangements

ü  Ensure that young people understand the role of any other professionals

ü  Ensure young person is aware of any relevant local pupil support or advocacy

ü  Help parents to work effectively with professionals

ü  Ensure consultation with all relevant services

ü  Publicise decisions to parents and professionals

ü  Regularly review policies and objectives.
