Days/times: Flexible
Contract: Part-time, ongoing

Quantum Scholars are looking for an experienced and supportive Learning Mentor to work with two separate young people who are currently educated other than at school (EOTAS).

This is a flexible, part-time role providing individual support to help each young person develop confidence, independence, life skills and engagement with learning. The successful person will need to be patient, reliable and able to build positive relationships with young people who may require a more personalised and nurturing approach.

One young person will require support focused mainly on life skills, confidence in the community, using public transport and developing independence. The other young person will need support with some academic work, alongside life skills and general mentoring support.

The role will involve:

Providing 2 x 3-hour mentoring sessions per week

Supporting two separate young people on an individual basis

Helping young people develop confidence, independence and positive routines

Supporting life skills, including community access and use of public transport

Providing gentle support with academic work where required

Encouraging engagement, communication and motivation

Adapting support to meet each young person's individual needs

Liaising with Quantum Scholars and relevant professionals as needed

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience working as a Learning Mentor or in a similar role

Experience supporting young people with additional needs, barriers to education or EOTAS provision

A calm, patient and encouraging approach

Confidence supporting life skills and independence-building activities

The ability to support basic academic work where needed

Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with young people

Flexibility around days and times

A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

This role would suit an experienced Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker or someone with strong experience supporting young people outside of mainstream education.

Applicants must be willing to complete all safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, references and right to work checks.
