Learning Mentor
Year 5 & Year 6 SATs Support
Start Date: September 2026
Are you passionate about helping pupils achieve their full academic potential?
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and committed Learning Mentor to join our friendly primary school from September 2026, supporting Year 5 and Year 6 pupils as they prepare for their SATs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with upper Key Stage 2 pupils and is confident supporting children to build their knowledge, confidence and exam readiness in English and Maths.
About the Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will work alongside class teachers to provide targeted academic support for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. You will deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions, helping children strengthen their understanding of key concepts, close learning gaps and develop the confidence they need to succeed in their SATs.
This is a purely academic support role and does not involve SEN or behavioural support.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions in English and Maths
Support pupils in preparing for Year 6 SATs through structured revision and focused learning activities
Reinforce classroom learning and help pupils consolidate key skills
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to class teachers
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning
Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure interventions are effective and aligned with classroom teaching
Help create a positive and engaging learning environment where pupils feel motivated to achieve their best
What We're Looking For
A confident and enthusiastic Learning Mentor who enjoys supporting pupils academically
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their potential
Experience working with primary-aged children in a school setting (desirable but not essential)
A proactive, organised and reliable approach to supporting learning
An understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, particularly English and Maths, would be advantageous
