Learning and Well-being Lead

Grade 5, £29,459- £32,765 pro rata (inclusive of local weighting) depending on experience. Part Time, 21 hours per week. Permanent. Based at BEAM (formerly Hertford Theatre).

About the role

A rare opportunity for an experienced Learning and Well-being Lead has become available to work at BEAM (formerly Hertford Theatre) as part of the new team relaunching the building after a 4-year hiatus and a £30m redevelopment. This is an exciting time for you to join us and develop your career as we seek to strengthen and deepen the programme of theatre, live events, films and community work in our 547-seat theatre, 150-seat studio theatre, dance studio, community room and 3 dedicated cinemas.

BEAM are looking for someone to join them who is committed to excellence in their work. The successful candidate will work alongside the Creative Programme Manager, to oversee and co-ordinate the strategic development and delivery of the Learning and Well-being offer in line with the programming policy and mission statement.

What will you be doing?

Some of the key responsibilities include:

- Oversee and co-ordinate the strategic development and delivery of the Learning and Well-being offer in line with the programming policy and mission statement.
- Liaise with external funders to build positive relationships and networks.
- Work in partnership with other service EHC colleagues to apply to relevant funding bodies for external support for Learning and Well-being activity.
- Liaise with associate artists and companies to support the Learning and Well-being offer.
- Respond to the live and film programme to enhance the Learning and Well-being offer.
- Liaise with the Technical and Production Manager to ensure any activity associated with the Learning and Well-being offer is appropriately supported.
- Liaise with the Operations and Hospitality Manager and ensure any activity associated with the Learning and Well-being offer is appropriately supported to ensure any programmed work or hires are deliverable from an operational point of view.
- Ensure the marketing team have access to materials related to any activities and programme of work.
- In conjunction with Creative Programme Manager, Technical and Production Manager and Hospitality and Operations Manager implement a programme of learning and well-being activity management and monitoring.
- To act as an ambassador for BEAM, its values and mission.

About you

This role will suit an ambitious learning, well-being, and community engagement producer keen to make their mark on a significant, new arts building in Hertfordshire. If you are an enthusiastic team player with a capacity to work independently where necessary, have an eye for detail and a love of community participation then this role is for you.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Experience of working in an education, learning and/or community outreach department in a multi-functional culture, arts venue, or theatre.
- Experience of delivering an adventurous, progressive but commercially viable programme of education, community, and arts-based activities in a cultural setting.
- Experience of project fundraising for engagement activity.
- Experience of working in a creative team and with freelance creatives.
- Experience of working with non-professional and community organisations, children, and young people.
- An understanding of current trends and agendas within the education, learning, community and outreach world of theatre and the arts.
- An understanding of how a Learning and Well-being offer can help build new audiences and continue to serve established audiences.
- An understanding of the national and regional funding picture in terms of public sector funding bodies, trusts and private funding for engagement activity.
- Comfortable and familiar with the use of administrative software e.g. Word, Windows 365, Teams, Zoom etc.
- Whilst there is some opportunity for blended working, you will want to be in and around the building when you can, engaging with the team, the audiences and building creative networks both locally and regionally.
