My client, based in West Sussex is an engineering company who is a market leader in the design & manufacture of Heat transfer technology & equipment. They have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Structural engineer on a permanent basis. They have a number of exciting long term projects & clients include the likes of Aramco, Chevron, BP, Centrica, Canadian Natural.
FUNCTION OF THE DEPARTMENT & MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
As an integral member of the small UK Design Office, working alongside the larger Malaysian team, the Lead Structural Engineer will support the Sales, Project and Process Engineering teams in the production of structural calculations and design sketches.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide steel weight estimates and concept designs in full accordance with BIH standards and clients’ project specifications in order to assist the Sales and Process departments at the bidding stage.
• Work as a team member dedicated to fulfilling the design requirements of the projects.
• Structural design of £multi-million projects.
• Preparation of clear design sketches.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Qualifications to HND/Degree level in a mechanical or structural engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in design & calculation of steel structures (complex structures) is essential.
• Experience in any of the following industries (Oil & gas, renewables, hyrdogen, pharmacuetical, power distribution or generation).
• A keen forward-looking attitude is required for problem solving engineering.
• Previous experience of working in a 3D analysis environment is essential.
• High standard of analytical & technical problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. • Able to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
• Good communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with foreign clients, colleagues and suppliers.
• Able to liaise and co-ordinate with staff of all levels in multiple offices around the world.
• Knowledge of STAAD software is essential,
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, Caesar, SAP2000 and Tekla is advantageous.
• Experience in large scale capital construction projects would also be advantageous
