September 26 – July 27A well-respected and highly inclusive primary school in Greenwich is seeking a Lead SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant who is ready to take the next step in their career and take on greater responsibility within a specialist support setting.

The Role

As Lead SEND Teaching Assistant, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school’s SEND Hub, supporting pupils who require additional help to access learning successfully.

The Hub provides a calm, structured, and nurturing environment for children with a range of needs, including Autism, Social, emotional, and behavioural needs, Communication difficulties and Sensory processing needs.

Pupils may access the Hub in different ways depending on their needs. Some may spend longer periods within the provision following tailored activities, while others may attend throughout the day for short-term support, sensory breaks, emotional regulation, or targeted interventions before returning to class.

The Hub also plays an important role in supporting wider classroom provision by providing flexible intervention and regulation support where needed.

This is a varied, hands-on role requiring a calm, proactive, and adaptable approach, alongside the confidence to lead sessions and coordinate support staff effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day provision within the SEND Hub, ensuring a safe and supportive environment
Organise activities and coordinate other support staff working within the Hub
Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and behaviour strategies
Help pupils transition successfully between the Hub and mainstream classrooms
Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staff to ensure consistent supportThe School

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND
Has a strong understanding of additional needs, including autism and social/emotional needs
Is confident taking initiative and leading others
Can remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situationsThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to progress into a more senior position while remaining focused on direct pupil support and making a meaningful difference in children’s school experience.

This position is offered on a long-term contract basis, with pay dependent on experience.
