Lead PHP Developer - £65-75,000 + Annual Bonus + Remote Role + Leading Tech Business + International Projects + 33 Days Annual Leave + Career Progression

The Company

We are working with a market leader who are experiencing significant growth. They have a large project & product portfolio which is constantly evolving. As such are looking to add a Lead PHP Developer to their team.

You will be joining a team of experienced industry professionals to help deliver on some exciting projects, in an international tech setting.

The Role

The Lead PHP Developer will join the Software Engineering community in a Lead role as part of our core teams. You will work closely with other Software Engineers, Test Engineers, Product Architects and Product Owners as part of an Agile Product team to drive platforms forward, exploring new technologies and approaches to existing challenges.

You will be working with a mixture dockerised PHP applications (Yii2 Framework), modern microservices written in Typescript (AWS CDK IaC framework) and frontend Javascript widgets (Angular/Vue).

Main duties include:

* Designing and developing platform improvements in line with the business vision and technical strategy.

* Analyse and improve efficiency, scalability and stability of products and services.

* Peer and Code Review work of other team members.

* Contribute to building a culture of support, creativity and learning within your Agile product team and the wider Development department.

* Adhere to best practice principles for development, including source control, build, testing and deployment.

* Acting as a role model across the team, setting high professional standards for performance and behaviour

* Working with the wider agile team to define technical solutions as part of the SaaS roadmap

* Acting as a point of technical escalation in order to make decisions in the best interest of the platform

* Being responsible for information security and data protection, and supporting the business in complying with any legal obligations imposed upon it through positive actions

What We Are Looking For

The Lead PHP Developer will be an ambitious, entrepreneurial and innovative candidate who is looking for an opportunity to challenge themselves in a high performing organisation.

Essential Skills:

* Current working experience of Object-Oriented Language - preferably PHP / Typescript

* Current working experience of a modern Javascript framework – preferably Angular / Vue

* Building and managing APIs for both internal and external consumption

* Awareness of Continuous Integration / Unit Testing / BDD / TDD

* Experience with relational databases, ideally MySQL

* Familiar with API principles (REST, GraphQL)

* Experience working in Agile teams and knowledge of good working practices

Desired Experience / Skills:

* Building microservices

* Working with CI / CD tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins or CodePipeline

* Working with online purchasing tools or payment gateways

* Team leading / mentoring experience

* Experience in creation of technical documentation

* Experience with AWS Services (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda)
