Description:
We have an exciting roadmap ahead, and as the Lead Applied ML Engineer, with a focus on NLP, you will define new ML features, research appropriate algorithms and technologies, and rapidly get first prototypes in our customers’ hands.
Responsibilities
Understand overall company strategy and identify areas where AI can help.
Deeply understand the problem area to identify the right ML framing of product problems
Research and identify the right algorithms and tools
Identify areas where ML can create value for our customers
Leading a team of machine learning engineers and data scientists, and providing guidance and mentorship to help them develop their skills and advance in their careers.
Work with engineers to bring prototypes to production
Qualifications / Skills
Masters degree or (ideally) PhD in a technical discipline, e.g. computer science, physics, maths)
Expert in Python.
Experience as the primary technical leader for a team
Ability to optimise research code
Knowledge of developments in experimental platforms and frameworks from across the field.
Experience designing and training machine learning models to solve critical business problems.
Experience with data science / ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch) and relevant tools (eg WnB)
Relevant scientific research experience.
Nice to have
Relevant publications in high-impact journals or at top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV etc.
Kubernetes
Knowledge of data pipelining (e.g. via Airflow) and prior experience with cloud-based ML model deployment

Competitive Salary (£80-£120k cash) plus meaningful Equity (0.3-3%) depending on experience
Flexible working hours.
Flex work: 2 -3 days per week at the office + 3 months work from anywhere. Can do full remote for the perfect candidate, as long as you are UK tax resident.
32 days holiday per year in total (you can swap bank holidays if you want to)
You can also roll over up to 5 days of holiday per year.
