We are actively looking for a Lead Electronics Engineer to join our Engineering team, based in Cambridge.

The Lead Electronics Engineer will help develop world-class electronic products across both Automotive and Motorsport sectors.

The Role:

Leading the development of electronics hardware for automotive and motorsport products.

circuit design and simulation, schematic and PCB design, component selection, new technology research, prototyping and testing, PCBA bring-up, EMC testing, and project end-to-end.

Design verification and supporting design validation testing.

Appropriate documentation of the design to allow long term support of the product.

Working in multi-disciplinary teams to create world leading solutions.

PCB design and layout, producing necessary assembly drawings/documentation.

Identify and recommend product improvements to improve technical performance.

Engineering test equipment design and support Production and DV test equipment.

Supporting Head of Electronics with design process development and recruitment

Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.

Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile: 

Required:

Degree qualified with a bias towards electrical and electronic engineering.

Proven experience of Analogue and/or Digital electronics design.

Electronics design process understanding and appreciation.

Able to clearly formulate and communicate complex design concepts.

Requirements capture.

Able to work effectively in a team environment.

Solid oral and written communication skills.

Good IT skills.

Analogue and Digital Electronics Experience, preferably including experience of, or familiarity with          

Microprocessors, controllers and high-speed digital design,

Serial interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART,

Amplifiers, Filters.

Sensor signal conditioning.

Automotive interfaces: CAN, LIN, FLEXRAY.

Ethernet interfacing.

Low power PSU design.

Product grounding schemes.

Power Electronics, preferably including:

Knowledge of Triac/SCRs, IGBTs & FETs.

Power supply design.

DC Motor control.

Actuator drives.

Design Techniques, preferably including:

Circuit simulation & design tolerance analysis.

Circuit electrical and thermal rating analysis.

Design for high volume manufacture.

Design for test, including JTAG.

Robust design including FMEA techniques.

Design for EMC and the ability to carry out pre-compliance work providing solutions where limits exceed the standards.

Desirable: 

Previous automotive or Defence experience.

Experience of Altium schematic and PCB layout / LTSpice environment.

In depth knowledge of EMC design topologies and experience in testing to standards
