Lead Applications Engineer - Buzz Bingo - Hybrid 

Job Summary:

Buzz Bingo is looking for an experienced Lead Applications Engineer to join our innovative team. This is a full-time, permanent position and you will be working on a hybrid basis. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of up to £55,000 per annum.

Buzz Bingo IT supports the entire retail and online IT infrastructure including bingo club, office, and data centre environments across the UK. You will be a fundamental part of this team, demonstrating a can-do attitude and a winning mentality.

You’ll work closely with your team members, other teams, and management across IT and the wider business.

You’ll lead our operational IT teams, specifically the Applications space.

You’ll take the lead on large projects working closely with project managers and members of project teams.

Responsibilities:

Lead a team of applications engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Contribute to the Architecture, design, and development of robust, scalable, and maintainable software applications that meet the requirements of Buzz Bingo.

Collaborate with product management and design teams to define product requirements, features, and specifications.

Work closely with testing and engineering teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our applications through rigorous testing and quality assurance processes.

Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to optimize productivity and efficiency within the engineering team.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve our applications and development processes.

Provide technical leadership and expertise in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex technical issues.

Participate in cross-functional meetings, planning sessions, and project reviews to ensure alignment with strategic goals and objectives.

Contribute to the development of technical documentation, training materials, and knowledge sharing initiatives to facilitate the transfer of knowledge within the organisation.

Ability to understand and abstract business processes and build out & document technical IT process flows.

Work as a bridge between the business and the IT development and data teams to translate business processes into technical designs.

Your knowledge and experience:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including the ability to communicate technical information clearly to a non-technical audience at all levels of business

Motivated and enthusiastic individual with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

Ability to analyse complex problems and provide solutions, requiring a hands-on approach when required.

Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to successfully coordinate and train staff.

Extensive Microsoft client and server administration experience.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

5 years of experience in Application support and continuous Improvement, with a focus on application development.

Proficiency in programming/scripting languages Including but not limited to SQL, Powershell.

Strong understanding of development/service Improvement frameworks, and technologies relevant to the position.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products on time and within budget.

Experience working in retail/hospitality and gaming/gambling sectors is a plus.

Flexibility required to provide support outside of core business hours to assist in the resolution of major incidents and implementation of changes.

Strong technical aptitude, with a passion for learning and driving improvement.

Working knowledge of the ITIL framework

Hold a full clean driving license as travel between group sites will be required
