LCL Import Coordinator
Tilbury, Essex
Permanent (Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm)
£30,000 - £35,000
A well-established and highly respected international freight forwarder is seeking an experienced LCL Import Coordinator to join its busy sea freight operation in Tilbury.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on live freight, vessel movements, customs control and customer ownership, and wants to be part of a business with a strong reputation in Far East Ocean imports, consolidated freight and UK customs clearance.
The successful person will take ownership of end-to-end LCL import shipments, managing cargo from overseas origin through to final delivery across the UK.
The Role
* Manage consolidated LCL import shipments from booking to delivery.
* Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, warehouses and customers.
* Coordinate UK customs clearance (CDS) and ensure full HMRC compliance.
* Monitor vessel arrivals, ETAs and shipment milestones.
* Check and raise import documentation, including Bills of Lading, manifests, invoices and packing lists.
* Arrange onward delivery through major UK ports including Felixstowe, London Gateway, Southampton and Liverpool.
* Resolve delays, exceptions and operational issues proactively.
* Cost and invoice completed files while maintaining accurate records within the freight system.
* Deliver fast, compliant and commercially competitive LCL freight solutions worldwide, with a focus across:
* China
* Far East
* India
* Southeast Asia
* Europe
* North America
What They’re Looking For
* At least 2 years’ experience in sea freight imports.
* Strong exposure to LCL / groupage / consolidated cargo.
* A solid understanding of ocean freight operations, customs procedures and import documentation.
* Experience with CDS customs entries.
* Knowledge of Destin8, CNS and freight software such as MultiFreight would be advantageous.
* Excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple live shipments simultaneously.
