Our client Scottish Power Renewables are currently recruiting for a Land Surveyor to join their team based in London or Glasgow on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Land Surveyor who has experience with CAD as well someone who is comfortable dealing with 3rd party landowners. Main Purpose of Job

The remit of the Land Surveyor is to provide the East Anglia THREE project team with survey support, primarily in planning and undertaking onshore land surveys. This role is also required to support the wider GIS team with ad-hoc GIS support such as producing drawings, online mapping services, undertaking geospatial analysis and advising on the appropriate use of geospatial data to various stakeholders.

This role will require to work closely with all packages working on East Anglia THREE and external stakeholders.

The location of the role will be based in Glasgow or London with regular site visits as required.

Key Tasks

• Planning and undertaking onshore land surveys under the direction of Construction engineers
• Produce full survey reports outlining scope, equipment, calibration, accuracies, tolerances, limitations, and results
• Provide high-quality digital data deliverables to GIS Lead
• Produce plan and cross-section digital drawings to present data in intuitive ways for various stakeholders
• Provision of basic GIS analyses and data processing services to the desired quality, cost, and level of traceability
• Spatial/survey data management
• Spatial/survey data presentation
• Raster and vector data handling
• Create and maintain geospatial data and metadata
• Working with internal and external customers to support data requests either planned or unplanned.
• Contribute to the development of specialist knowledge and practice within the business
• Provision of documentation and training in use of custom tools to the end users to ensure high standards of use
• Analysing historical records and evidence to ensure data accuracy
• Monitoring & recording changes in the land profile before, during and after the construction process
• Reviewing as-built information for accuracy, consistency and required content
• Prepare and maintain sketches, maps and reports of legal descriptions of surveys
• Verify Data and calculations

Key Criteria

• Qualified and Certified Land Surveyor
• Thorough understanding of geodetics, datums and projections
• Thorough understanding of survey equipment resolutions, accuracies and tolerances and a strong ability to communicate these to non-specialists
• Thorough understanding of geospatial files, formats, and their relative applications and limitations. This role requires experience working with LIDAR point clouds (DTM and DSM) and conversion to other surface formats
• Demonstrable experience of applying best practice in surveying techniques, data processing and geospatial data management
• Ability to work with survey data in both 2D and 3D environments
• Advanced working knowledge of CAD
• Basic working knowledge of ESRI GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Enterprise)
• Good digital cartographic and map production skills
• Excellent written, presentational, and customer-facing skills regarding GIS and Engineering
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work in a team and in a client office environment
• Access to fully calibrated surveying equipment to meet variety of project demands • Ability to operate survey equipment from drones is desirable
• Logical thinking skills
• Problem solving and analytical abilities
