Description:

JRS Associates are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join an established electronics manufacturing business based in Tewkesbury.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a chemistry, laboratory or scientific background who is looking to develop their career within a highly technical manufacturing environment.

The Laboratory Technician will carry out routine chemical analysis and process testing, supporting manufacturing quality and ensuring chemical processes remain within specification.

The Successful Laboratory Technician – Package:

* £13.50 per hour

* Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 5:00pm & Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm

The Successful Laboratory Technician – Role:

* Carry out routine chemical analysis of manufacturing process solutions

* Test plating baths, etching solutions, cleaning chemicals and associated process chemistry

* Monitor chemical concentration, contamination levels and process control limits

* Make chemical additions and adjustments to manufacturing process lines in accordance with procedures

* Carry out laboratory and physical testing including solderability, microsectioning, ionic contamination and peel-strength testing

* Support investigation of manufacturing and product quality issues

* Produce accurate laboratory test reports and records

* Maintain calibration schedules and traceability of laboratory equipment

* Read and interpret specifications and mechanical drawings

* Support quality investigations, non-conformances and process deviations

* Store, handle and dispose of laboratory and process chemicals safely

* Work in accordance with COSHH, PPE and site safety procedures

* Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment

* Assist with the handling and movement of laboratory materials and chemical drums

The Successful Laboratory Technician – Requirements:

* A-Level Chemistry or equivalent scientific/laboratory qualification

* Previous experience carrying out laboratory testing or chemical analysis

* Good understanding of practical laboratory techniques such as titration and sample preparation

* Understanding of COSHH and safe chemical handling

* Strong attention to detail

* Accurate record keeping and report-writing skills

* Comfortable working around manufacturing chemicals and process solutions

* Able to safely handle loads up to 25kg where required

Previous experience within PCB manufacturing, electronics, plating, chemical processing or another regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Knowledge of IPC-A-600, experience reading mechanical drawings or possession of a forklift licence would also be beneficial, although training can be provided where appropriate.
