We are currently seeking a dedicated Tutor/Mentor to support a Year 11 student who is currently placed in a forest school provision and requires support to re-engage with education.
The primary focus of this role will be building a positive, trusting relationship with the young person while delivering Functional Skills English and Maths sessions. The successful tutor will play a key role in supporting the student's confidence, engagement, and readiness to learn, alongside helping them develop essential literacy and numeracy skills.
The young person presents with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, which have impacted their engagement with education. As a result, we are looking for a tutor who is patient, adaptable, and experienced in supporting vulnerable learners. The ability to tailor sessions based on the student's emotional needs and engagement levels is essential.
Key Requirements:
Minimum 6 months' UK-based educational experience
Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs
Strong understanding of emotional regulation and therapeutic approaches
Ability to adapt teaching methods and expectations according to the student's needsRole Details:
15 hours per week
Funded by the Local Authority
Sessions to be delivered alongside the student's current forest school provision
Focus on Functional Skills English and MathsThis role places a strong emphasis on relationship-building and re-engagement, with academic progress developing alongside increased confidence and participation. We are looking for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference to a young person's educational journey.
