Location: Edgbaston, Birmingham, B16
Pay Rate: £110 - £120 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Long Term Futures are recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Edgbaston, Birmingham from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a collaborative staff team, supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 through a combination of whole-class support, small group interventions and targeted SEN provision.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils develop confidence in their learning, particularly in phonics, literacy and numeracy, while also providing additional support for children with emerging or identified special educational needs. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early learning and enjoys helping children overcome barriers to achievement.

The Role

Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 classrooms.
Provide whole-class support alongside the class teacher to ensure all pupils remain engaged with learning.
Deliver targeted small group interventions in phonics, reading, literacy and numeracy.
Provide additional support for pupils with SEN, including those with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or other learning barriers.
Support the delivery of the KS1 curriculum through engaging and differentiated learning activities.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor pupil progress and adapt support where required.
Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence throughout the school day.
Help create a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.The Ideal Candidate

Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent) - Essential.
Previous experience working within a Key Stage 1 setting.
Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and child development.
Experience delivering phonics interventions and supporting early reading using recognised phonics schemes.
Experience supporting pupils with SEN within a mainstream primary school.
Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
Patient, proactive and able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
