Description:

Central is currently recruiting for two Key Workers, to work in the Wokingham area. The service provides high-quality support to individuals presenting or in need, who have a history of alcohol and/or other drug related problems.

The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week, working Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. There is a requirement to work the occasional evening. Cover is required either on a temporary or permanent basis. For the temporary roles, minimum duration is 3 months. The pay rate is £28,500 per annum.

Please note; the successful candidate can work 1 day per week from home.

In this position, you will responsible for:

* Carry a caseload of 50 individuals and provide and co-ordinate interventions appropriate to their needs

* Deliver harm reduction interventions to ensure service users reduce the risk from their alcohol and/or drug use

* Work in a trauma informed approach, providing advice, advocacy, a range of psychosocial interventions and support to individuals who have a history of alcohol and/or other drug use

* Work in close partnership with other agencies to ensure individuals access a full range of services.

* Support referrals using structured guidelines to provide support for continuity of care

* Carry out triage and comprehensive assessments utilising Psychosocial Interventions and ITEP techniques to provide relevant interventions based upon assessment or need

* Co-ordinate the individual's care to enable them to access pharmacological interventions where required, including opiate substitute therapy or relapse prevention medication

* Comply with policy and procedures in the monitoring and management of an individual's prescribing to ensure safe delivery of interventions

* Undertake outreach and satellite provision, including where relevant, the delivery of surgery based Shared Care and other locality based provision

* Provide and deliver harm reduction advice, interventions, risk management and care plans including delivery of the service's needle syringe programme, Blood Borne Virus screening.

* Assist those who use our services to explore and plan for future employment, training and education opportunities

* Support individuals to understand and manage interactions between alcohol and other drug use and other forms of risk-taking behaviour such as sex, gambling, domestic abuse, self-harm

* Enable individuals to manage their financial affairs by using tools such as budgeting apps and refer to local services as required.

* Where appropriate, co-ordinate access to structured detoxifications, completing the necessary preparatory work to enable this to be delivered successfully and safely

* Assess and act upon immediate risks of danger from alcohol and/or other drugs and other behaviours.

* Identify safeguarding issues and respond appropriately

To apply for this role, you must have;

* Experience of directly working with people who have alcohol and/or other drug issues

* An understanding of the needs of drug and/or alcohol users and knowledge of harm reduction

* Knowledge of the range of community drug and alcohol services and models of treatment

* An understanding of care planning and risk management.

* Knowledge of brief intervention methods including Brief Solution Focussed Therapy and Motivational Interviewing

* Ability to facilitate groups, experience of using assessment tools and one-to-one work

* Ability to work in a pressurised, multi-disciplinary environment

* Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team and build effective working relationships with other agencies

* A non-judgemental attitude to those who use alcohol and/or other drugs

* Professional qualification in alcohol and/or other drug use, social work or Level 3 diploma in Health & Social Care

Candidates must confirm their interest as soon as possible, with in person interviews scheduled shortly after and the appointed candidate expected to start as soon as possible.

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

* Current valid right to work in the UK

* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)

* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
