The School and Role

This ‘Outstanding’ SEND school, based in Sunderland, supports children and young people aged 5-11 and is looking to appoint a passionate Key Stage 2 Primary Support Assistant to work in Key Stage 2 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Primary SEND school as part of an established team, the desired Key Stage 2 Primary Support Assistant will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND including Autism (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This full time Key Stage 2 Primary Support Assistant role is long term from September ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.

You will assist the class teacher with supporting teaching and learning, leading small group and 1:1 interventions as well as assisting pupils with their individual needs including personal care. You will be responsible for behaviour management as well as supporting the progress of pupils, liaising with staff and parents and participating in weekly CPD sessions.

School hours are 8:30-15:30pm Monday - Friday.

Requirements

The desired Key Stage 2 Primary Support Assistant will have;

Relevant Level 2 Qualification is desirable: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant / Level 2 or 3 Health and Social Care / Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning / Level 2 or 3 Childcare
Experience of working with EYFS or primary school aged children.
Experience of working with SEND pupils.
A passion for the progress of SEND pupils.
Ability to work as part of a team.
