Description:

Junior Quality Inspector

Essex / Hertfordshire Border

Permanent | Day Shift | Monday-Friday

Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on experience

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality machined components into demanding industries.

Rather than looking for an experienced Quality Inspector, we are seeking someone with a solid mechanical engineering background who is looking to develop a long-term career within Quality Inspection. Full training and ongoing support will be provided by an experienced inspection team.

This role would suit someone who has completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship, worked as a CNC Machinist, Manual Machinist, Mechanical Engineer or Engineering Technician and is looking for a new challenge away from production or machining.

The Role

Working within the Quality department, you will receive training to carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision machined components.

You'll develop your skills using a range of precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques while learning how to interpret engineering drawings, complete quality documentation and work within a high-quality manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision engineered components.
Read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and specifications.
Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other inspection tools.
Learn to operate inspection equipment including CMMs (training provided).
Complete inspection documentation and quality records.
Work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain quality standards.
Support continuous improvement within the Quality department.
Work safely and in accordance with company quality procedures.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in engineering and quality who is keen to learn and build a long-term career.

Ideally you will have:

A mechanical engineering, manufacturing or precision engineering background.
The ability to confidently read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
Experience using basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers or gauges.
Good attention to detail and a methodical approach.
Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Ideal Backgrounds

Applicants may currently be working as:

CNC Machinist
Manual Machinist
Mechanical Engineering Technician
Production Engineer
Engineering Technician
Quality Technician
Junior Quality Inspector
Toolmaker
Mechanical Assembly Technician with inspection experience
Previous aerospace or CMM experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

What's on Offer

Permanent position.
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm.
Friday: 7:00am – 12:00pm.
Overtime available.
Structured training and development.
Opportunity to build a long-term career within Quality Inspection.
Salary up to £30,000, depending on experience.
Please note: We are only able to consider applicants who already have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this position
