Junior Mechanical Estimator
Cannock | M&E Contractor | Up to £40,000 DOE
Are you a Plumber, Mechanical Engineer or experienced Mechanical Installer looking to get off the tools and move into estimating?
We’re working with an established M&E contractor based in Cannock who are looking to bring in a Junior Mechanical Estimator and train someone with the right technical background and attitude.
This could be a great opportunity for someone from a plumbing / mechanical building services background who understands how systems are installed and now wants to develop a career within mechanical estimating.
The Role
You’ll work alongside the existing estimating team, learning how to price and prepare tenders for a range of mechanical building services projects.
You’ll be involved in:
* Assisting with mechanical estimates and tenders
* Reviewing drawings, specifications and schedules
* Pricing labour, materials and subcontract packages
* Assisting with take-offs and quantities
* Obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations
* Supporting the preparation of tender submissions
* Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and clients
* Developing your knowledge of mechanical building services and estimating
* Working closely with the senior estimating and commercial teams
Who We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in speaking with people who have a plumbing or mechanical installation background and are looking for their next career move.
You could be:
* A Qualified Plumber looking to come off the tools
* A Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Installer
* A Plumbing Supervisor looking for an office-based role
* A Mechanical Improver with strong technical knowledge
* Someone already assisting with pricing or estimating
* Someone with good knowledge of commercial building services who wants to learn estimating
Estimating experience isn't essential — the key is having a good understanding of mechanical services, being comfortable with numbers and drawings, and having the right attitude to learn.
