Junior IT Infrastructure Engineer

Bristow Holland is working with a exciting business in Ipswich that is looking for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join its expanding technical team.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll get exposure across cloud infrastructure, Microsoft technologies, security and wider infrastructure projects, while working alongside experienced engineers and continuing to develop your technical skills.

The role could be particularly well suited to someone currently working at Senior 2nd Line level who feels ready to take the next step into a 3rd Line / Infrastructure Engineer position. You don’t need to already be the finished article at 3rd Line level; they’re looking for someone with strong technical foundations, a willingness to learn and the ambition to take on greater responsibility as you develop.

What you'll be doing

* Supporting and maintaining Microsoft Azure environments

* Monitoring systems, backups and infrastructure alerts

* Supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Windows environments

* Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure-related issues

* Managing user access, MFA and security controls

* Supporting patching and vulnerability management

* Setting up and managing laptops, devices and other IT equipment

* Assisting with cloud migrations and infrastructure projects

* Maintaining technical documentation and processes

* Working alongside experienced engineers and gradually taking ownership of more infrastructure

What we're looking for:

You’ll ideally have experience in a 2nd Line or Senior IT Support position and a good understanding of Microsoft technologies.

* Active Directory / Entra ID

* Windows Server

* Exposure to Virtualisation technologies

* Networking fundamentals

You don’t need experience across everything listed above. The key thing is having a good technical foundation and being ready to progress beyond 2nd Line support into a broader infrastructure role
