£250-£270 per day

Hybrid - 2 days a week on site in Oxford (non-negotiable)

Our client is an environmental consultancy looking for a Junior Functional Tester to join them on a contract basis for an initial 3 months with a likelihood of extension. You'll be joining their digital service team to engage collaboratively in scrum teams, creating new and innovative solutions.

Project:

Help QA their data-intensive web and desktop applications for our public and private sector clients as well as internal back-office systems. The successful candidate will have solid track record in testing web solutions, with a passion for thinking differently, finding innovative ways to break a site, and providing clear and detailed test results from which their developers can quickly and easily locate the problem. The right candidate will be comfortable working on a portfolio of projects either with other QAs or solo on smaller projects. Our ideal candidate will relish testing challenging and complex software systems, have excellent organisational skills and be an enthusiastic contributor to our team.

Duties and responsibilities:

Quality assurance of all development artefacts around new features developed or fixes within the software
Provide detailed test artefacts including all the ways in which a site was tested, including passes and failures.
Test and prove that the software meets major architectural requirements.
Ability to test for scalability and performance.
Ensuring the quality of systems as a whole
Work with software developers and product owners/managers in scrum teams attending agile ceremonies and providing early test plans.
Regression testing of existing systems
Produce quality metrics for releases ensuring software meets or exceeds published metrics and quality benchmarks
Detect bug issues and log them
Prepare defect reports
Drive improvements to quality assurance and identify gaps.Essential Experience:

Commercial experience in Software Testing
Exposure to Azure DevOps (ADO)
Test automation tools, such as Cypress, Junit or Selenium/Cucumber
TDD and BDD tools and techniques
Meeting Acceptance criteria utilising BDD
Regression testing
Commercial experience of testing enterprise level systems that incorporate microservice architectures and web applications
Working collaboratively with software and non-software professionals in an agile (scrum), fast paced (but sensible) environment.
Basics of Docker/Containers
Critical thinker with superb problem-solving skills
UI accessibility testingDesirable Experience:

Development of new or enhancements to existing automated methods that ensure the quality of development covering functional and non-functional tests.
Develop and automate tests for software validation.
Performance & load testing
Data creation and curation
Security testing
Basics of MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases
RESTful API principles, testing and performance.
Version control tools (preferably Git and GitLab)
CI/CD
Proficient with Jira and Confluence
Knowledge of Gitlab CI/CD pipeline
DevOps practices and principles
AWS services
XML/JSON
Working with large databases
