Junior Estimator
Location: Salfords, near Horley, Surrey
Salary: Up to £30,000
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Our client, an established engineering and manufacturing business based in Salfords, near Horley, is looking for a Junior Estimator to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering who is looking to develop a long-term career within estimating.
Previous estimating experience is not essential, as full training will be provided. Our client is looking for someone with a solid technical understanding, strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret engineering information.
You will work closely with experienced colleagues to learn how to prepare accurate estimates and quotations for a range of engineering projects. As your knowledge develops, you will gain exposure to more complex work and have the opportunity to progress into specialist areas of the business.
Responsibilities
* Assist with preparing estimates and quotations for engineering projects.
* Review drawings, specifications and technical information to understand project requirements.
* Work with internal engineering, production and commercial teams to gather accurate costing information.
* Develop an understanding of materials, labour, manufacturing processes and project costs.
* Maintain accurate records and support the wider estimating and commercial function.
Skills and Experience
* A background, qualification or practical experience in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering.
* Good numerical and analytical skills.
* Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
* Confident communication skills and a willingness to learn.
* Comfortable working with technical drawings, specifications or engineering information.
This role would suit a recent engineering graduate, college leaver, junior engineer or someone already working within an engineering environment who wants to move into estimating.
