Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior CAD/Revit Technician to join our growing CAD/BIM team.

The successful candidate will provide technical drawing and modelling support across a range of building services projects, working alongside experienced engineers, CAD technicians and BIM specialists.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is looking to develop their technical knowledge and gain practical experience in both AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit, with structured support and training provided.

The role will involve producing and updating drawings, developing Revit models, incorporating engineering information and ensuring that project information is accurate, coordinated and produced in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

CAD / Drawing Production

Produce and amend 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with project requirements.

Update existing drawings based on information provided by engineers and senior technicians.

Ensure drawings are produced accurately and to the required company standards.

Assist with the preparation of drawing layouts, details, schematics and schedules.

Maintain drawing standards, title blocks, layering and file structures.

Carry out drawing checks and rectify errors identified during the checking process.

Ensure drawings are correctly named, numbered and issued in accordance with project procedures.

Revit/BIM

Develop and maintain Revit models under the guidance of experienced BIM/Revit technicians.

Assist with the modelling of mechanical and electrical building services.

Add and update equipment, systems and associated information within Revit models.

Work from engineering information, specifications, drawings and mark-ups to develop accurate models.

Assist with the production of Revit-based drawings and documentation.

Develop an understanding of BIM standards, workflows and project requirements.

Assist with model coordination and identify potential clashes or inconsistencies.

Maintain model information in accordance with company and project standards.

Project Support

Work closely with engineers and senior technicians to understand project requirements.

Interpret engineering sketches, mark-ups, specifications and design information.

Assist with the preparation and updating of project documentation.

Work collaboratively with other members of the CAD/BIM team.

Maintain awareness of project deadlines and communicate any issues that may affect delivery.

Attend project and team meetings where required.

Maintain organised project files and follow company document management procedures.

Training & Development

The successful candidate will be supported in developing their technical skills and will be expected to undertake training in:

AutoCAD

Autodesk Revit

BIM principles and workflows

Building services modelling

Company CAD/BIM standards

Drawing production and documentation

Model coordination

Project document management

Relevant industry standards and regulations

As experience develops, the role will provide opportunities to take increased responsibility for individual drawings, models and project packages.

Essential Skills & Experience

An interest in CAD, BIM, construction or building services.

Basic understanding of technical drawings and the ability to interpret information accurately.

Basic computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.

Good attention to detail.

Willingness to learn new software and technical processes.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Good organisational and time-management skills.

Ability to follow instructions and work to established standards.

Positive attitude and willingness to develop within the role.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Previous experience using AutoCAD.

Previous experience using Autodesk Revit.

Understanding of BIM principles.

Experience or qualification in CAD, construction, engineering or building services.

Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building services.

Experience working within a construction, engineering or consultancy environment.

Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud or other common data environments.

Contribution to the wider CAD/BIM team

There will be opportunities to progress into a CAD Technician, Revit Technician or BIM Technician role as experience and technical competency develop.

Key Software

The role is expected to involve the use of:

AutoCAD

Autodesk Revit

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)

Microsoft Office

Other company/project-specific CAD, BIM and engineering software as required.
