Salary: £45,000 per annum
Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract
Location: Home-based, office base in Swindon

About the role

We are currently recruiting a Junior Building Compliance Manager to join a nationwide housing association on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

You will oversee the Building Compliance Team, coordinate servicing and inspection programmes, monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance records are accurate and up to date. Working closely with the Head of Asset Management and National Fire and Building Safety Officer, you will help ensure safety requirements are met, remedial actions are completed promptly and residents remain safe.

The role is home-based, with an office base in Swindon and nationwide travel as required.

Key responsibilities

Manage and support the Building Compliance Team, including setting objectives, conducting one-to-ones and providing ongoing guidance.
Coordinate building safety and compliance programmes, ensuring inspections, surveys, reports and certificates are accurately recorded.
Monitor compliance data, analyse KPIs and produce reports on service delivery and contractor performance.
Support budget monitoring, service charge information and cost reconciliation.
Assist with reviewing risk assessments, allocating remedial actions and tracking outstanding works through to completion.
Act as a key point of contact for contractors, suppliers, consultants, managing agents and external stakeholders.
Raise work orders, process payments and check, code and reconcile invoices.
Monitor contractor performance and intervene where unsafe or poor-quality work is identified, escalating concerns where necessary.
Maintain accurate asset management systems and identify opportunities to improve data quality.
Coordinate contractor meetings, prepare reports, record minutes and monitor agreed actions.
Respond to queries and resolve issues within agreed timescales.
Promote health and safety, safeguarding, data protection and continuous improvement across the service.

What we're looking for

Experience in building compliance, property maintenance, asset management, health and safety or a related housing environment.
Experience coordinating contractors, servicing programmes or compliance-related works.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Confidence working with compliance data, KPIs, reports and asset management systems.
Good commercial awareness, including budget monitoring, invoice checking and cost reconciliation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, contractors and customers.
A proactive approach to problem-solving, identifying risks and ensuring remedial actions are completed.
Good IT skills and confidence using databases, spreadsheets and reporting systems.

A commitment to health and safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and delivering a high-quality service.
