£25,000 - £30,000 Per annum
OT & Standby

Following successful award of a new framework contract, our client has opportunities for distribution cable Jointers Mate's to join our Scottish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) contract team based in the Thames Valley (Reading, Slough and West London).

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Jointers Mate's to join a growing business at a critical time. As a Cable Jointer's Mate, you will assist the Cable Jointer in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical cables and equipment. This is a hands-on role that requires a 'can-do' attitude with the ability to work with hand tools and power tools.

This position requires travel to different offices and customer sites, so flexibility and a full UK driving licence are essential. There may be occasions when you will need to work further away and stay overnight.

Responsibilities;
- Responsible for your own Safety and for that of your colleagues within your working team.
- Carry out site specific risk assessments before commencing works.
- Ensure before commencing work you are in receipt of all relevant paperwork required and that you understand the task/s that you have been instructed to undertake.
- Responsible for completing all necessary documentation for works undertaken using both digital app based systems and paperwork.
- Promote and demonstrate a culture of Health Safety & Quality at all times.
- Ensure all works are carried out to DNO specifications.
- Ensure the appropriate usage of tools and equipment.
- Make the Project Manager / Supervisor Manager aware of any project variations.
- Report all accidents and incidents.
- When carrying out works within the public highway ensure works signed and barriered in accordance with NRSWA

Duties will include:
- Assisting the Authorised Cable Jointer in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical cables and equipment.
- Liaising with customers face to face providing world class service to represent the client's brand
- Undertake excavation and reinstatement of joint holes
- Operating Mini Excavator
- Keeping the work area clean and tidy at all times
- Preparing cable, cutouts and joints
- Use of hand tools and power tools to assist with cable jointing tasks.
- Perform general maintenance tasks on equipment and tools.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment

Skills, qualifications and experience:
- NRSWA certificate for operatives
- CSCS / EUSR accreditation
- NERS
- Passport Holder ideal but not essential
- First Aid at work certificate
- Manual handling certificate
- Awareness of Health and Safety at Work and site specific Risk Assessments
- Previous experience working in a similar role is preferred but not required
- Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge and the ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively
- Knowledge of electrical systems and cable jointing techniques is a plus

In return our client will offer:

£25,000 - £30,000 Per annum
